Solutions For Newspapers—FAQs
What punchbender devices does NELA offer for the newspaper printing?
NELA offers a variety of device for different types of newspaper printer. We cater to the small-, mid-, and large-sized newspaper operations. Basically, our punchbender can be divided in 3 categories:
- Stand-alone and inline 3-point register punchbenders
- Inline vision (optical) punchbender
- Backup semi-automatic punchbender
What are the advantages of vision punchbending over 3-point punchbending?
Vision punchbending is a close-loop process exposing flaws before they go on press. These plate docking flaws will be adjusted with our vision punchbending system, compared to a 3-point bender where the flaw will show after the printing press has been started up. Here applies the $5-$50-$500 rule. It costs you $5 to find a flaw in pre-press; it costs you $50 to find a flaw when the plate is exposed; and it costs you $500 when you find the flaw once the press has been started up.
