NELA announces completion of more than 25 different web reduction projects Oakdale, MN — September 11, 2007 — NELA converted 28 newspaper locations to smaller websize. A total of 53 benders have been installed along with many NELA tool-less lock-ups. The New York Times converted numerous printing locations with NELA and had 12 modifications of existing benders plus 8 new NELA benders installed. NELA was busy reducing the web width at 28 newspaper locations, modifying and supplying a total of 53 punchbenders. Newspapers like the St. Petersburg Times, The Richmond Times, San Jose Mercury News and The New York Times contracted NELA for new punchbending equipment, bender modifications and lock-ups. The New York Times reduced their web width from 54” to 48” and NELA took charge in the modifications of 12 existing punchbenders as well as supplying 8 new punchbenders. The web reduction project was completed successfully and on time by NELA and The New York Times was able to get the smaller format out on schedule.
